A Vague Opinion on the Void

This is a pro ne rata piece that was requested of me. I hope to open this piece with a disclaimer. It’s odd to say this, as I believe that at all times people should take into consideration that anything you read should be taken with salt. Or, in the least, I believe we should always have an open mind to criticism and be able to evaluate that much of what we imbibe from one another revolves heavily around Personal Gnosis. There is no need to take any one person’s word as law or as an ultimate truth. And I would like that to be kept in mind whenever anyone reads anything that I write. I don’t know “better” than others. I am not somehow more “experienced” - we all have varying experiences, skills, and knowledge. It’s okay to look to others for continued opinions if you feel that someone, in particular, really helps you grasp your journey. However, you should always be sure to allow yourself your own liberty and freedoms of exploration. Always allow yourself to draw your own conclusions, especially on subjects that have such broad allowances for UPGs that may vary greatly.

And that is where this document comes in. There is an interest from individuals to know what my experience, opinion, or personal gnosis is revolving around “The Void”. Again, this is a document about my personal gnosis regarding the subject of The Void. And this subject is not something that I bother discussing often. And the reason for my abstinence in discussing this subject is because it’s pointless to do so. But here we are!

When we hear someone say: “The Void”, there is a cosmologically intense amount of subjects we could be discussing. And there is no way to narrow it down. The Void can be a place - it is full of markets, folk, commerce and music. There is a place I know of that is called “The Void” and it is populated and empty simultaneously. It is a central point for a great many things. And yet it does not exist at all.

There is a “Void” that some define as a fulcrum of reality. They talk about it as if it is the glue that holds reality together - and yet there is no way for anyone to truly comprehend what that would even mean. Some see “The Void” as the dark edges of space or the essence that makes stars and blackness. Some see the Void as light and ethereal. It can be all of these - or it is none of these at the same time.

You may be expecting some sort of… grandiose and intricate document. You may expect detail or subtle secrets and intense experiences. You will get none of that. I don’t discuss concepts of the Void, because in my experience, The Void is both its Thesis and its own Antithesis. It is not something you can write about and put it into boxes. Reality itself is not something you can put into boxes or make “clear”. It is something that does not have a consistency that can be cracked or tapped into in a way that is understood by the brain that you have in your skull as we speak. And to try to do so, in my opinion, not only is a fool’s task, but it is obsolete. It is not that it “should not be done”, but it is that to do so, you close yourself off to the other infinite possibilities.

Within its nature, I have found that concepts of “The Void” are silly to try and comprehend. It’s not something that is meant to be understood. It is meant to be experienced and felt. It’s not in its nature to be understood. And that is the beauty of it. In my work and experience, the Void is connected to everything. It has no limitations and has no tangible structure. It cannot be written about in a way that even begins to encompass its nature because it cannot be defined. I am wasting my time by writing this because that is just not how the nature of the Void works. And the same goes for its role in our paltry concepts of Reality.

The reasonings for this document really arose because the theory encompassed reality and the Void - as if they were reliant upon or communicated with one another. I believe that reality functions in a similar manner as The Void. Neither one is meant to be comprehended. Neither one of them has a way that they function that can be contained into boxes, and to do so is to close yourself off from the endlessly shifting possibilities. I’m sort of a multiverse believer. But in the sense that my understanding of “Reality” revolves heavily around the theories of the Dream of Azathoth. The Void and Reality really tie in well, for me, to the Dream of Azathoth. This simply means I subscribe well to the theories and ideas of the Dream of Azathoth. Nothing exists, and yet it all exists. Everything we think, feel, experience, study - every star, nebula, ocean, and bacteria, all are its own thesis and antithesis at the same time. And while we interact with one another and our surroundings - both tangible to us and intangible - we are changing.

Reality’s “structure” doesn’t exist. There is no such thing - at least not one that is consistent. It is not a stable form that can be understood or have the “code cracked” for it. The structures of the Void and Reality are not something that are ever stable, but are something that changes infinitely and constantly. It is twisting, morphing, shifting, adjusting, and growing, expanding, and shrinking. It does all of this at all times, simultaneously, and endlessly. The nature of it is never solid or even able to be comprehended due to its ever shifting nature. There is no one way or operable way to really anchor these concepts. And me, by writing this, as I write this, and even after I have posted it, the entire point of this document has become obsolete. And I understand that, completely. There is no use to this document. There is no use for the words I have written here - it is just another elaboration on a subject that can only be theoretical and will never have consistency that satisfies.

There are vastly different forms of infinity, none of which can truly be understood or experienced with any certainty or solid comprehension. There are no patterns to reality that are truly structured in a way that is always consistent. The idea of infinite possibilities and probabilities really prevents this. And by extension, the ability to perceive things varies greatly from individual to individual. There are no specifics of reality in any way shape or form. But, I believe that there are ways to navigate these nuances by getting an “idea” of the “closest” currents. But even these are unstable and cannot be relied upon.

So while one idea and “structure” may work and exist for one person, that same idea and “structure” may not exist whatsoever for another person and it then is rendered completely worthless and obsolete. And such concepts can be applied to anything in the realm of these studies. Attempting to change this is both obsolete and has its purpose. If you decide that it works for you, then that is what you have done. However, on a whim you can change it again. Nothing is consistent if we want to discuss the cosmological structure of our paltry and pitifully understood concepts of reality and “the Void”.

But the glory of this insignificance is that there is freedom in this. If you do not close yourself off to paltry efforts of confining your understanding of reality into boxes, then you have the opportunity to expand your experiences vastly. The difficult part is that people as a whole have tenancy to dislike this concept. The idea that nothing can be trusted or “expected” or anchored to an idea or belief then makes any comfort of understanding inert. People seek comfort in being able to understand things. Writing it down or “documenting” their understanding of reality gives them control over it. And while they have technically gained control, they don’t have any at all. As I said, it’s a thesis and antithesis at the same time. There is nothing and there is everything. And this point can be argued day and night. It can be pushed and shoved or shot down or attempted to be “understood”, but the task itself is pointless.

It is not, in my opinion, about being able to understand reality. It is about experiencing it in whatever ways you can as openly and acceptingly as you can - and finding joy, knowledge, wisdom, and happiness in your experience. You do not have to amount to anything significant. You never were significant. You never will be. And yet, you will always be the centre of your own universe - the fulcrum around which everything orbits. And then one day, the music may stop. Azathoth will wake up. And it will just have all been a long, long dream. And you would never know.
