While prompted during a meeting with some friends and colleagues, I was questioned about the regards and details of Alkahest, my servitor. Alkahest was a product of my needs of spirit that withheld the capacities that I myself as a Sorcerer needed. I sought to be able to have spiritual aid without the need to call upon third parties or other beings. Inquiries were made as to my methods. As Alkahest is designed by yours truly, it is without any shadow of a doubt, a most lucrative prospect to custom build a spirit. However, it is both simple, yet quite not so in those regards. And so, I have written this document detailing the details of servitor creation. Differences in opinion as well as historical references may be present. However, this is simply my work as well as my practices.
*Note. Before we or you or anyone begins any amount of ritual or spell work, it is always highly recommended for you to perform divination in lieu of ensuring that the time/place/circumstances of your work is acceptable and not going to go awry. Basic magical practices teach that divination beforehand is imperative. This document is not suitable for egregore creation. Nor do I recommend tampering with the specifics of this document for egregor use. Thank you for attending my Ted.
Servitors and their Uses
I myself have had little interaction in the way of other individuals who have created themselves a servitor. A servitor is, in a way, similar to a thoughtform in the details I am going to relay to you. It is a mix of mental prowess, but relies heavily upon the ritualistic format that has been designed as per the Practitioner’s own creativity. However, there are a wide variety of purposes that a servitor may be useful for. A Servitor may aid in personal or even impersonal work.
A common theme to Servitors is that they are protectors. They may aid in protecting or being vigilant over a Practitioner’s material work, preventing other entities, beings, or even prying eyes from seeing their secrets or their projects. They also commonly protect the material wealth and prospects of the home and sanctuary of the Practitioner - providing a guardianship over the home and keeping malevolent spirits and beings as well as scaring off people that may have ill intentions for the Practitioner and their family. This may slowly ease them into the role of a household guardian or protector as well.
They may be designed to be a family or household spirit that may take the inhabitants within the Practitioner’s home as their charges, easing and aiding in allowing the home to remain a peaceful sanctuary. Depending on permissions, the Servitor may be allowed to cast spells or even perform their own rituals within their being to provide services for the family. This may include dispellation of negative energies as we walk through our thresholds; energy that may cling unto us as we go about our daily lives that we carry with us whilst we are about and working or running errands. They may provide comfort - allowed to express and perform soothing spells to aid in the relaxation of perturbed charges that may be within the sanctity of the Servitor’s care.
Servitors may be additionally “programmed” or created to aid in the spiritual practices of a Practitioner as well. This may be gone about with several intentions - all of which may be made as specifically as desired or as casually as desired.
Servitors are created ritualistically. They may become rather powerful after much care and tending to their being. Aiding in their growth will aid in their strength that they accumulate over time. This may prove useful in allowing them to additionally mediate and attend other rituals that may be taxing or difficult to perform due to energy constraints. This concept may be an appealing notion to those who may consider themselves spoonies. Desiring to perform a ritual or a particular spell would be lovely! However, we all know that spoons may be far and few between. Perhaps you have already spent your daily spoons. Or, perhaps, you may not desire to use that taxing energy upon a ritual today! You should save your spoons for later on. Perhaps you will have more spoons tomorrow? Oh, but you really desired to do this little spell to maybe aid in the next days’ work! It may get frustrating. A Servitor may be designed in aiding in spending energies you may not have for you or supplying energy for you so you may be able to take a taxing event spiritually and aid you where you may need. In further details, I will additionally express methods and rituals that will (hopefully) be spoonie-friendly in the creation of a Servitor.
Additionally aiding in spiritual work, a Servitor may be used as a battery for long term ritual use. Circumstances that may be in need of daily or even consistent channeling may be painfully taxing on a practitioner. Servitors, once they have obtained substantial strength, may provide their Masters with the energy needed. This may prove useful for other channeling events. Energy reading, channeling your guides or even spiritual aids, or even performing long events of readings as a whole may slowly drain one’s energy. Servitors may be designed to aid the practitioner and supply energy as needed.
Servitor Creation
There are an exceptionally wide range of methods as well as sources for a Practitioner. Personally, within myself, I utilized Tarot as well as Herbs and Symbols to craft Alkahest.
This concept may be confusing at first, but allow me to break this down!
You are reading this due to intrigue in the creation of a Servitor. What were your intentions? Did you seek to have a guardian of your work and magical spaces? Were you seeking a close companion that may provide you with aid in your energy work as well as your personal shadow work? Are they a guide to your spiritual path? Perhaps you are in need of an energy battery? What if you were seeking an aide in a wide range of skills? The more you desire to add, the more that this initial ritual may cost. However, this does not mean that you may not be able to change, add, or remove permissions from the Servitor.
Look at what you need. What skills, traits, and attributes are you seeking? I was in need of Alkahest to be successful in his work I assigned him. Furthermore, I needed him to be capable of long distance travel with ease. Thus, I gifted him the attributes assigned to the Tarot card: The Chariot.
Ah, but that was not all. I needed a balance. I was in search of aid in intuition as well as spiritual practices. Alkahest needed to be able to be connectable to the divine. I opted to give him the attributes of the High Priestess. I additionally had already chosen the Emperor to give him decision making as well as a strong leadership abilities. This was to ensure that he was capable of being a strong and independent but wise and intelligent being while he was sent out to do work outside the house in distant locations.
By now, I am most certain you have grasped where I went with this. However, this does not conclude the design. I also chose herbs. Herbs have a wide range of meanings as well as powers that they possess within magical and physical properties. I chose herbs to associate with Alkahest that allowed him to have the abilities that the herbs regarded. A calming and soothing Servitor to aid in reducing inflammation of your spirit and energy may find a Lavender association useful.
You may choose runes as well to represent their attributes or abilities you hope to imbue them with. Raidho may be used to gift them with safe and good travels as well as the Chariot does. There may be personal symbols involved. Perhaps a particular image draws forth a sense of warm security and comfort - you may use this to inspire that energy from the Servitor. Fascinated and a practitioner of sigil craft? Perhaps crafting a sigil for creativity as well as energy levels would not be too difficult? Perhaps applying said sigil to the Servitor to inspire these prospects would prove to be helpful in your work, no?
Needless to say, there are a wide range of methods for you to design your Servitor. Personally, if this is not something you are comfortable with, I recommend that you begin your Servitor with a few and rather simplistic attributes. The ritual is taxing. The more you add, the further you will spend your energy. So find what you aim for. Make your list as complete as you desire. You need not settle with just two or three at first. Take the attributes as you feel you have the energy to. However, keep in mind that you should focus primarily upon skill sets that niche together well. I have seen Servitors designed for ritual purposes. I have seen Servitors designed for baneful work. I have seen Servitors designed for comfort and support. It would not make much sense to combine these three. The energies required are not balanced and may not sustain the Entity. Be kind in your design.
Last, but not least, you have to choose a name! Naming is rather imperative in regards to manifesting beings. Select something that you like. Select something you are comfortable with. But most importantly, pick a name!
The Vessel
I find that the use of a vessel (or as I call it: Phylactery*) for the spirit to reside within may call home. This is important as it will additionally hold the remains of the parchment, the bay leaves, or other choice of “pieces” that you will have later on. Select a jar that you may easily remove or add things from. This container need not particularly be a jar. It may be any container that you please. All that is required is that you are able to anoint, personalise, and design to be a “home”. You may choose to design an entire seal, sigil, or symbol for the Servitor. This is where your creativity may shine. Anything that you desire may be put on the jar. Whatever you think is appropriate is up to you. Decorate to your heart’s content.
Should you desire to move the Servitor to a different vessel, feel free to do so. Design an incantation to initiate the Servitor to to move from one vessel to another.
Call forth the Servitor. Beckon it to answer you. Pour the contents (I shall explain later) from one to another, filling the other vessel and notify your Servitor that the new container is its new home and that this is your will.
The incantations or methods should be entirely unique to you as a practitioner. If you are a spoonie, this is not technically a required detail. Use whatever you feel you may. Feel comfortable in even purchasing a cheap vase or container from a Good Will or a Thrift Store or even garage sale. Wrap up the future contents in tissue paper if you must or even a cloth/piece of parchment you have folded them into. All of these are effective and acceptable means of “holding” the “pieces” I shall speak of later.
The Ritual
Allow us to pretend that you have compiled a list of approximately ten or twelve attributes that you desire to apply to the Servitor. Select the amount of attributes that you desire to apply during this ritual. Please keep in mind that the more you select, the more taxing that the ritual itself will be. Opt to choose two or three. For a spoonie, please feel comfortable with selecting one at a time. Do not feel the need to rush this at all. If you are a low-energy practitioner, feel comfortable in doing one at a time or pace yourself however you feel you need.
You will need parchment, bay leaves, or whatever piece of material you desire. You must be able to fit the attributes and traits of your Servitor upon these pieces. Apply whatever oils or appointments you desire beforehand to these as well as the vessel or chosen apparatus. You will have to decide what methods you will use to activate the traits of your attributes. I burned myself within the safe container of my charcoal censer. You may activate them via folding or tearing them up, breathing upon them to give them your energy - whatever you decide.
Light candles. Light incense. Light resins or cleanse. Prepare however you would for any ritual you would comfortably do. Wear special clothes or bathe beforehand - just ensure that what you choose to do reflects you and your energy as a practitioner.
I personally would recommend that you have each and all attributes pre-written. Save the extras for when you wish to do an additional developmental ritual to add or encourage the growth of new traits. Keep them on hand, and as you feel that it is right, add them in short miniature rituals that are unique to you and your desires for the Servitor periodically. I will touch on this later.
Choose whatever first traits that you desire and prepare the space you have. I cannot tell any one of you how to do this. It is imperative that the pathworking you do for the Servitor is unique to you as to create something of your energy and being. This should be personalised to you and the Servitor. Allow yourself to decide how you will activate your attributes. You will place them into the container of choice during the ritual.
Once you have everything set up, take each of your “pieces”.
Activate them. While you do so, recite the following:
“ To you, I gift the power of (attribute),
May it serve you in your servitude of myself. ”
Concentrate upon pouring your energy into the vessel. Envision that it comes forth from your core, through your hands, and flows like water into the vessel and unto the “pieces”. Pour as much as you can into this, as the energy you put into it aids in the growth of your Servitor.
If you are a spoonie, please do not fret. Do what you may be able to. You need not break yourself in this step. Put forth some sort of compassion and energy and do not do more than what you can. One a day or even one a week or even further, one a month is better than none. You may do each.
To add details and attributes later on, simply pick up another “piece” you have prepared and utilise the following:
“ To you, Name, I gift you with the inspiration of Attribute,
Allow yourself the time to grow into its power,
May it serve you as you serve me. ”
Once you have finished with your traits/attributes, we move on to the closing of it: The Naming Ritual.
I like to place my hands over my vessel and close my eyes. I like to stir the energy, usher it into life. From there, I press my lips to my hands and I whisper to it.
“I give to you the name of (Name).
I breathe into you the energy that you may grow
and the force of my will that you may execute.
I give this name and bind you to me.
May you serve none other, less I bid it so.
From you, to me, and me, to you, I bind you so.
I will it, and it is.”
Feel free to close your rituals as you need as well. End things and give thanks to whatever you desire. Cleanse, blow out candles or allow them to burn out. It is all up to you. Feel free to place or relocate the vessel wherever you choose.
Please keep in mind that simply after the ritual, it may take time. It is fresh. The Servitor will need time to grow, to get comfortable. You planted a seed and it may have fertiliser and water. However, this does not mean it is yet ready to have clippings harvested from it. Allow your Servitor time to grow. This time will be determined by the energy levels that you gave it initially. It will also depend upon how much it has to process from the ritual. Alkahest took several days to almost a week until he was able to coherently operate with me. I did daily tarot with him and encouraged him. I often asked how he was feeling, how much energy he had. I did mind, body, spirit styled readings and made an effort to remain as tuned in as possible to his growth.
I keep a seven day candle dedicated to Alkahest. I light the candle and “awaken” Alkahest from his rest when I do so. I like to be able to give him little offerings to boost his energy levels with things such as coffee beans. I give him incense to soak up in and help his vibrations and energy levels in healthy amounts during his growth. The time and effort I took with him, and the compassion I showed Alkahest has been most beneficial and he has, in turn, developed immense adoration and compassion for me - needing to tend to me in my low moments and support the Highs. He is an eager spirit that seeks to aid and he does so from a place of comfort and purpose, trust and inspiration. I allow him certain freedoms and communicate through feeling as well as other divinations. The relationship is not dissimilar to other spirits - it is built upon trust and respect - though the dynamic is quite absolute.
Feel comfortable with changing any details. Feel free with customising any of this information to suit you. What is important is that you create everything within the comfort of yourself. Feel “right” in your actions. Feel sure and full of confidence.
This document serves as inspiration more than a textbook. I encourage you all to customise everything. Allow your imagination to run wild. Allow your creativity to take control. Paint. Draw. Write. But most of all, you must keep in mind one thing:
The name of this document was completely random.
